2008 NFL Fantasy Preview: Kickers
By Scotty G | August 8, 2008
Looks like we got kickers, defenses and sleepers left to preview but with the kind of things going on right now in the NFL (Favre to the Jets,) there’s so little time actually talk about how awesome the football season, in general, is going to be. I just got my 35 yard line row 1 East Carolina side tickets for the Pirates match up against Va Tech on August 31st in the mail today and all that can be said is shits on. I’m going to breakdown my top 10 kickers for the season of 2008 but if you’re like me then you’ll just get a decent kicker to start off and then pick up whoever gets hot. It’s a great strategy and obviously has worked for me in years past. If you got a nasty kicker though you obviously have to hold onto him but that would only be insulting your intelligence.

I need to go ahead and finish this up because I’ve been pissing pigskin all day and have to get to the bathroom quick! By the way, go see Pineapple Express. It is one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen!!!
Make the jump to see the top ten kickers of 2008…
1. Stephen Gostkowski, NE - Though he won’t see a whole lot of 3 pointers, he set a record last year with 74 extra points and look for him to be kicking a lot keeping that leg warm.

2. Rob Bironas, TEN- This could be a bit of a risk because his offense might be better, which would either lead him to kick more closer field goals or his team will be scoring TDs. With Vince Young at QB I see him kicking a lot of field goals this year.
3. Shayne Graham, CIN - He’s been a solid kicker for the past few years in all fantasy leagues and this shouldn’t change one bit. Hold onto this guy ALL year.
4. Nick Folk, DAL - I might be riding the bandwagon with this one because I think he’s just a part of the Dallas Cowboy hype machine which is ESPN, but I could be wrong. He’ll give you solid numbers though.
5. Josh Brown, STL - He just got a huge contract, 14 mil for five years with a $4 mil signing bonus. Holy shit this guy better not pull a Shaun Alexander.
6. Adam Vinatieri, IND- He should be higher but what can you do? I only get to pick 10 people damnit! Solid but not eye-bulging numbers from him.
7. Robbie Gould, CHI - While I hope he has a miserable season along with the entire Chicago Bears team, I think his reputation as an extremely accurate kicker will give him a little worth this year.
8. Shaun Suisham, WAS- Watching this guy kick game winners last year was awesome. He’s sort of a fantasy tease though. You think he’s going to have a big game but then he’ll miss a few and he ends up having a shitty game. He’s probably the cutoff for the guys you can drop throughout the year.
9. Neil Rackers, ARI - Ghost has picked this guy for his team the past 3 years and I swear it’s starting to piss me off. I might take him in the first round just so he can’t get him and still win that bitch. I’m running out of things to say for the 9th and 10th best kickers in the NFL.
10. Phil Dawson, CLE - This guy’s frosted tips got him into the top ten. PERIOD (no picture of Dawson avail)
